National Recovery Month 2021

Join the New Britain community in recognition of National Recovery Month this September with a series of informational events offered by partners of New Britain Recovers, the City's initiative to provide holistic community care. This month, we aim to give special focus to the issue of addiction and the many resources available to aid in recovery. All events are free and open to the public!

The Community Health Center hosted a resource fair outside of the family wellness center.

Community Mental Health Affiliates hosted a virtual panel on the impact of faith based organizations on recovery within communities.

The Wheeler Clinic hosted an all day, outside fair sharing important recovery resources.

HOCC hosted a fair in Walnut Hill Park right across from the hospital that featured a small breakfast, resources, yoga, and raffles!

Recovery month 2020

Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration sponsors a National Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders, and celebrate the people who recover. In observance of this month, New Britain Recovers worked with Axim Design in September 2020 to develop a month-long social media campaign focusing on the testimonies of various individuals in the community and the specific actions the City is taking to support recovery. Here, you can browse all the content made for the campaign, and hear the powerful testimonies of our community providers and people in recovery, see how the Mayor’s Opioid Taskforce is making an impact, and learn more about what it means to be a Recovery Friendly Community.
